Statistics sometimes do not always reveal the total narrative in relation to a match or other event under the GAA banner.
But this week a catalogue of statistics were revealed which I firmly believe will not be matched by any group of players in the future.
Six players from my own Crossmaglen Rangers club were quite rightly honoured for having compiled a catalogue of individual honours that hoist them onto a totally different pedestal than that of their peers.
Twins John and Tony McEntee, Oisin McConville, Francie Bellew, Cathal Short and Paul Hearty each possess 13 successive Armagh county championship medals, seven Ulster Club Championship gongs and four All Ireland Club medals.
Their collective contribution at club and county level over the past fifteen years or so has been immense. It is perhaps entirely appropriate that as we approach the Ulster Club Championship quarter-finals this Sunday — a competition they graced so regularly — we should be paying a special tribute to the longevity and dedication of these particular players
