Eugene Laverty keeps on trucking towards Newtownabbey festival

By Staff Reporter

Local fans will get the chance to meet Monaco based Ulsterman Eugene Laverty at the upcoming Mercedez Benz Truck and Van Festival of Speed. The Voltcom Crescent Suzuki World Superbike star will be at the Newtownabbey Fun Day on Saturday week, August 9, from 10am through to 3pm.

With race simulators, slides, a bouncy castle, wipe-out sweeper, BBQ and much more, Laverty is looking forward to joining in on the action packed day, taking place at the Mallusk Road dealership of Mercedes Benz Truck and Van (NI), the parent company of his team logistics partner Rossetts Commercials.

The Voltcom Crescent Suzuki race truck and Laverty's Yoshimura-powered GSX-R1000 will also be in attendance, providing opportunities for photographs, while Team Manager Paul Denning will join the talented Toomebridge racer to answer questions and meet the fans throughout the day's events.

There will also be chances to win a VIP race weekend experience and a signed Laverty race helmet through an on-site raffle and a front fairing signed by both WSBK racers online now at www.facebook.com/mercedesbenztruckandvan.

"I'm looking forward to the event, because it's not often that I get to spend time with fans from home," said Laverty. "Motorcycle racing is very popular in Northern Ireland and it's nice to be able to give some of my time to the people that support me.

"I was born and raised less than half an hour from the venue so I hope to see some familiar faces there too.

The event has a lot going on so it looks like it's going to be a great day."
