Johnnie legacy lives on

Joey's Bar Motorcycle Club has provided Armoy Road Races with the all-new Johnnie O'Neill Memorial Trophy. This will be presented, along with a cash prize of £300, to Senior Support Race competitor with the fastest lap at this year's event on July 27.

'Wee Johnnie', as he was known, was a mechanic to the famous Armoy Armada, along with many other riders, and is a fitting tribute as Club chairperson Lyle Millar explained:

"Johnnie O'Neill was one of the original members of the Joey's Bar Motorcycle Club, but like so many Ballymoney men, road racing was in his blood.

Gary Dunlop added: "Wee Johnnie is much missed. He helped me when I was racing and more importantly he helped me restore my father's bike."

Bike Week 2013 is from 21st– 27th July.
