Stephen Craigan: Rangers finally scale the summit

Rangers eventually hit the summit in the Scottish third division after a 2-0 home win against Queens Park in what was labelled the original Glasgow derby.

An incredible crowd of 49,463, incidentally the second biggest in the UK at the weekend after Manchester United v Stoke City, watched Rangers eventually overcome their amateur opponents, and many now expect them to stay there for the remainder of the season.

However, having watched them on numerous occasions this season, I imagine the stroll to the title won’t be as comfortable as what it should be though I fully expect Rangers to be crowned champions come May, if not before.

And I’d like to take this opportunity to give a special mention for former Northern Ireland international Steve Lomas (pictured) who has led St Johnstone to FIVE successive top flight wins for the first time since 1971.

Keep up the good work Lomie.
