Has Sir Alex Ferguson's memory gone over Steven Gerrard?

No holds barred: Alex Ferguson
No holds barred: Alex Ferguson

As I wrote in this newspaper yesterday, while a fascinating read, Sir Alex Ferguson's autobiography is also an exercise in settling old scores and the timing of its release does David Moyes no favours.

One final point about the book and Fergie saying he didn't see Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard as a 'top, top player' and that he 'seldom had a kick' when up against Roy Keane and Paul Scholes.

I'm guessing that would be the Steven Gerrard who the Scot tried to sign in 2005 and who scored seven goals – one in a League Cup final when he dominated Scholes and Keane – and created a few more against Fergie's Manchester United.
