Steven Beacom: Get Roy Keane to World Cup

Thursday, 26 November 2009

Memo to TV executives ahead of the 2010 World Cup finals: pay Roy Keane whatever he wants to get him on board as a pundit.

The guy is box office gold and a surefire ratings winner.

To heck with the matches, you would just tune in to hear Keano give his views.

I know he did a Jedward last week by polarising opinion over what he said about the Republic of Ireland’s controversial clash with France, but you watched him, didn’t you? Couldn’t take your eyes off him I bet as he ranted away.

BBC and ITV, don’t bore us with Alan Shearer and Teddy Sheringham, get Keano in to give it straight.

Better still what about RTE offering him a seat on the panel beside Eamonn Dunphy!

Blame for this awful mess lies squarely with Capello

Unusually for Fabio Capello, a man who owns some highly valued pieces of art but is not given to too many flights of poetic fancy, he once said that he had a dream. It was right at the start of his England reign and it was that he would lead his team into the final of the World Cup in Johannesburg.
