When Ireland face Wales in the Six Nations in Dublin on Saturday, much interest will centre on the sub-plot that is Brian O'Driscoll v Welsh coach Warren Gatland.

Gatland dropped O'Driscoll for the deciding test between Australia and the Lions last summer.

It was a decision that made Gatland (pictured) some sort of hate figure in Ireland. Seven months on, the Kiwi still wouldn't win any popularity contests.

I love O'Driscoll, but let's remember without him the Lions won the final test in Australia. Gatland's big call proved to be the right one.
