The Punter: Kenny Dalglish’s Liverpool have high hopes

Kenny Dalglish

Liverpool made two moves which have transformed their season and, incredibly, puts them in with a chance of Champions League football next season for which they are quoted 9-1.

The first was bringing king Kenny Dalglish back to take over from Roy Hodgson who clearly struggled in getting the right formation at Anfield, and the second was Dalglish's decision to ship Fernando Torres, at a very nice profit, to Chelsea.

Torres had become a liability to Liverpool once it was clear he did not want to be there.

No one wore a bigger smile than Kenny at the end of that 1-0 Liverpool victory at Stamford Bridge with Torres kept very much under wraps and any thoughts of Dalglish not being the permanent manager are now simply absurd.

The Reds have rediscovered their spirit and the only way seemingly is up.

Liverpool finishing position: 9-1 top four; 4-1 fifth; 11-8 sixth; 9-4 7th to 10th; 9-1 bottom half.
