The Punter: Outlook is far from blue for Manchester City fans

There is a blue moon in the sky and Manchester City fans are delirious with excitement.

After their buyout by the Abu Dhabi Arab moneybags, suddenly the future is bright and there’s a realistic chance of them challenging the red half of Manchester for dominance.

The capture of Brazilian Robinho is a taste of what’s to come.

It will take time but already the layers are quoting 6-1 for the ‘Slickers’ to lift a trophy and have cut them to 66-1 for the Premiership.

But let’s not get carried away with false title hopes, even though one fans has placed £1,000 with ‘Laddies’ at 150-1.

However, 100-1 for the following season as offered by Coral’s, will appeal to the Eastlands faithful as does 25-1 (Skybet) for the title within three years.

It has been a cracking few days for one local supporter who cashed in to the tune of £2,725 profit on two £5 scorecasts .

He took Martin Petrov to score the first goal and City to beat Sunderland 3-0 at the Stadium of Light on Sunday.

With Petrov not on the bench, he placed the same stake on Stephen Ireland with the same scoreline after rejecting thoughts of Elano — who was only on the bench — and Shaun Wright-Phillips, making his first appearance since returning to the club.

Ireland and City hit the spot at odds of 475-1 to £5 while the other bet featuring Petrov, reverted to a straight 3-0 score at 50-1.
