CI targeting repeat win over Braid

The road to The Lawn and finals day in the Lagan Valley Steels Twenty20 Cup begins tonight with six of the eight teams in action.

The one game put back to Thursday is the big one between Waringstown and holders Civil Service North, who are minus their influential cup winning captain, Nigel Jones.

CIYMS, who kick off the Group B action at home to Ballymena, won only one of their three group games last season - against tonight's opponents.

Instonians, who host Lisburn tonight, and North Down are favourites to emerge from Group B but Carrickfergus are the unknown quantity - they won the Twenty20 Trophy last season

Tonight's fixtures (6pm): Group A: Instonians v Lisburn, North Down v Carrickfergus. Group B: CIYMS v Ballymena, Waringstown v Civil Service North

Ulster Bank Challenge Cup preliminary round: Derriaghy v Academy (T20)

Hanley Energy Inter-provincial Championship (11am): Leinster Lightning v North West Warriors.
