Cricket: England on horizon for Ireland
Ireland could be on course to face England at the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh next March after the schedule of fixtures for the tournament was announced yesterday.
If Ireland justify their seeding and win the qualifying tournament in the UAE next month then they will go through to the first round alongside two of their fellow qualifiers and Zimbabwe.
Only the winners of that four-team round-robin section will go through to the second round (the Super 10) but it will be into a group alongside Sri Lanka, South Africa, New Zealand and England.
All those games will be played in Chittagong from March 24-31 2014.
The Ireland squad leave on Wednesday for the UAE where after 10 days of acclimatisation in Dubai they will move on to Abu Dhabi for their first warm-up game on November 12.
They will play seven group games in 10 days with the group winners automatically qualifying for the finals.
