Mulder is going into battle for the Knights
Jacob Mulder, the young CIYMS leg spinner, is one of two new faces in the Northern Knights squad for next week's Newstalk inter-provincial championship game against the North West Warriors at Stormont, starting on Tuesday.
Mulder replaces Waringstown's Greg Thompson, the only omission from the team that won the one-day game between the teams on Monday, and he is joined in a 13-man squad by Shane Getkate and Craig Ervine.
Getkate, a former Ireland Under-19 international, made the move from North County to Civil Service North explicitly to try and win his place in the inter-provincial set-up, with Ireland ambitions down the line, and the Knights have granted him his wish although there is no guarantee he will make the final 12 for the game.
Ervine, the former Zimbabwe Test player, and a regular in last year's three-day team, is a certainty to start the match and, indeed, scored 92 in the corresponding match last year.
But the Knights have managed to resist the temptation to bring in a second overseas player "as they are no better than what we have".
Tabish Khan and Ernest Kemm, who made their debuts for the Warriors in the opening championship game against Leinster Lightning this month, retain their places in a squad.
The panel shows just one change with Ifti Hussain – who started last season as Warriors captain – coming in for his Fox Lodge team-mate, Jason Milligan who is getting married. Rishi Chopra, 12th man at Bready, has exams.
