On fire: Kevin O'Brien was top scorer for Leicestershire

Ten days out from Ireland's one-day international series against Sri Lanka, Kevin O'Brien starred with the bat for Leicestershire in their Royal London Cup game yesterday.

O'Brien, batting at No 3, scored 89 off 84 balls with eight fours and a six but his county still fell 11 runs short of Durham's imposing 340 for six.

Kevin's brother, Niall, chipped in with 43 off 41 balls as they put on 72 in 64 balls for the fourth wicket. New squad member Barry McCarthy, however, did not make the Durham line-up.

William Porterfield (40) and Boyd Rankin (4-66) were both recalled to the Warwickshire side but they too were on the losing side against Lancashire and Surry's Gary Wilson was out for 11 as they lost to Kent by one wicket.
