Porterfield set for Warriors to gain game time

By Ian Callender

William Porterfield is being lined up to play for the North West Warriors on Sunday in their inter-provincial Cup match against the Northern Knights at The Lawn.

The Ireland captain has lost his place in the Warwickshire side and with less than a fortnight before the Intercontinental Cup game against the Netherlands, Porterfield will be desperate for match action and his home union will be keen to have him.

One international who will not be playing is Niall O'Brien, who has to complete his two-match ban after being reported for two Level One offences in the last inter-provincial championship game against Leinster Lighting.

O'Brien has also had to sit out the Warriors current game against the Knights at Comber, where the second day's play was abandoned without a ball bowled.
