Scotland have secured a series win over Ireland following their six-wicket victory in the postponed Twenty20 match at Bready on Saturday.

The second instalment of the three-game series was cancelled on Friday following heavy rain but the two sides reconvened 24 hours later with Ireland opening the batting.

Kevin O'Brien and Andrew Poynter scored 36 from 24 and 28 balls respectively and Tyrone Kane hit 26 off 17 deliveries as Ireland ended their innings on 166 for six.

And Scotland appeared to be in trouble in their response after Kane bowled opener George Munsey with only one run on the scoreboard.

But the visitors, led by 48 off 30 balls from Matt Cross and 47 off 29 deliveries from Preston Mommsen, reached 167 for four with 11 balls of their innings remaining.

And after their six-wicket victory in the series opener on Thursday, Scotland now cannot be caught with just one match of the series to be played.

The sides will again meet at Bready on Sunday.
