Thompson returns home as Hunter heads to NCU

By Ian Callender

Published 08/11/2016

Brigade and CIYMS are happy to swap players for the 2017 season with Ireland 'A' all-rounder Johnny Thompson heading home to the North West and Warriors batsman Ryan Hunter moving in the opposite direction.

Thompson had still one more year of his contract at Belmont but CI agreed to release him in exchange for Hunter, who is currently working in Templepatrick and was happy to move to the NCU for the first time where, unlike Thompson, he has made himself available to play for Northern Knights.

Meanwhile, Brendan Donaghy and the late Aubrey Finlay were both inducted into the North West Hall of Fame at the union's Annual Dinner, where former Irish international bowler John Mooney made an excellent debut appearance as the guest speaker on the night. Other winners: Radio Foyle Player of Year - Decker Curry; Players' Player of Year - David Rankin; Warriors Player of Year - Andy McBrine; Young Player of Year - Graeme Kennedy; Club Person of Year: John Kennedy (Ballyspallen); Coach of Year - John Semple; Fair Play Award - Simon Killen.
