Tip top: Waringstown’s Greg Thompson is the man in form

Greg Thompson remains the batsman that all teams currently fear with Carrickfergus and Strabane providing the next bowlers for the firing line.

Thompson took his superlative club form with Waringstown into the inter-pro championship yesterday, adding another 39 not out, from just 21 balls - with six boundaries, half of them sixes - as Northern Knights and North West Warriors drew at Bready.

Unbeaten Waringstown host second placed Carrickfergus in the big match in the Ulster Bank Premier League and then they head north west for the quarter-final of the Ulster Cup.

Another Waringstown player in good form is James McCollum who top scored with 76 as Knights reached 225 for five when time ran out.

Captain James Shannon added 126 with McCollum for the second wicket to ensure no last day scares for the Knights after they had surrendered a first innings lead of 41, Warriors captain Andy McBrine scoring 82 off 85 balls.

Match drawn.
