Devils in seventh heaven

Cardiff Devils extended their winning streak to six Elite League matches as they ruthlessly destroyed Hull Stingrays 7-0.

The Welsh outfit raced into a 4-0 lead after the first period thanks to goals from Andrew Lord, Trevor Hendrikx, Andrew Hotham and Chris Jones.

Their visitors tightened up somewhat after that, but a second from Hendrikx and further strikes from Chris Culligan and Brent Walton turned it into a rout.

Despite that fine victory, Belfast Giants were still hot on their heels in the standings after they eased to a 9-3 victory over strugglers Dundee Stars.

A four-goal second period proved crucial for Belfast, while Colin Shields' hat-trick helped them on their way to a victory which keeps them a place and two points behind Cardiff.
