England down Spain to reach semi-finals
England progressed to the Unibet EuroHockey Championships semi-finals in London courtesy of a 4-0 victory over Spain.
The hosts needed just a draw from their final Pool A match to make it to the last four after defeating Russia comprehensively and then losing to Holland, and they booked a semi-final spot against Germany on Thursday by cruising to victory at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre.
Ashley Jackson netted twice, breaking the deadlock and finishing off the scoring, with captain Barry Middleton and Chris Griffiths firing in rebounds in between.
Ireland are also into the semi-finals for the first time in their history following a 2-2 draw against Belgium in Pool B earlier in the day and they will face Holland in the last four.
