Jamie Clarke, who sprang to prominence with Crossmaglen Rangers and Armagh, has committed to the Queen's-based New York Shamrocks for the forthcoming Cosmopolitan Soccer League Division One campaign.

And Clarke's capture has already been enthusiastically hailed by coach Kevin Grogan, who clearly feels that the lithe striker will be a considerable boost to their playing resources.

"I'm delighted to sign Jamie," states Grogan. "He will get better as the season progresses. It's certainly an exciting development for our team."

Clarke (27) has played with Cartwheel in the Carnbane League and his ability to find the net will certainly prove a bonus to his new club.

"I am very happy to link up with Shamrocks and I'm looking forward to the first game on Sunday. We are all very focussed on kicking off with a win," states Clarke.

"The Cosmopolitan League is a really good standard and I hope to improve and develop. It's all about putting the head down, working hard and learning."
