Ballygowan teenager in line for dream Robins deal

A teenager from Ballygowan is in the mix to win a professional playing contract with Swindon Town thanks to a competition organised by the club’s sponsors.

Connor Millar, 19, took part in a trial this week to play for the League One outfit, managed by former Northern Ireland midfielder Danny Wilson.

The trial was the opening stage of the Win A Pro Contract competition, which is being run by Samsung — Swindon Town’s new sponsor.

Millar, studying at Liverpool John Moores University, said: “Becoming a professional footballer would mean everything. My life would be complete!”

Players will take part in a series of trials, before a winner is chosen by Wilson in December.

The player will sign a professional contract and join the first team squad in January.
