Damien Duff will captain the Ireland against Italy after being handed the armband by Robbie Keane in honour of his 100th cap.
The 33-year-old will lead the team out in Poznan as manager Giovanni Trapattoni once again fields his strongest starting line-up.
Duff and Keane made their senior debuts in the same game as Duff against the Czech Republic in March 1998.
