Chris Baird believes Northern Ireland can be singing all the way to France next summer thanks to one of the country's leading music stars.

Michael O'Neill's team has hit all the right notes during the Euro 2016 qualifiers, other than in an away defeat against Romania last November.

Gary Lightbody, of Ulster's own Snow Patrol, trained with the players and performed for them back at the team hotel ahead of tomorrow evening's return clash with the Romanians and it was inspirational stuff according to Baird.

"It was fantastic to see him. He was buzzing himself to get out on the training ground and then he sang a few songs at lunchtime," said Baird.

"We had Carl Frampton up at the hotel for the last game. I've never met them before so it's really nice to see them.

"Along with Rory McIlroy they have put the country on the map and hopefully we can do the same."
