Excited Josh Magennis living the dream with Northern Ireland
Josh Magennis made no bones about it. Touching down in France yesterday with the rest of the Northern Ireland squad, he announced his dream had come true.
The Kilmarnock striker, of course, played a memorable role in helping Northern Ireland to make it to the Euro 2016 finals, scoring during the 3-1 victory at home to Greece last October which sealed a place in the tournament.
Magennis was in action again on Saturday as he came off the bench in the scoreless draw in Slovakia.
With Kyle Lafferty certain to start when fit in the group games, Magennis says he will be ready to fulfil that role for manager Michael O'Neill during the Euro 2016 finals if required.
"I always want to play to show Michael what I can do," said Magennis.
"Every player wants to be involved and when he changed things at half-time I was delighted to get on.
"It was just about working hard and making sure you didn't give Michael an excuse to shout at you in the changing room after the game!
"If you're not in the starting XI, the fundamentals have to be the same when you step in; nothing else is good enough.
"We're in France now and this is what dreams are made of. We want to show everyone what we can do on the big stage."
