Michael McGovern was preferred to Roy Carroll in goal for Northern Ireland's Euro 2016 qualifier against the Faroe Islands in Torshavn.

The Hamilton goalkeeper earned his fifth cap for Michael O'Neill's men while Chris Brunt (hamstring) and Kyle Lafferty (knee) were both considered fit enough to start on the artificial turf of Torsvollur.

Aberdeen's Niall McGinn was also giving a starting role after Nottingham Forest winger Jamie Ward was left at home to receive treatment on a hamstring problem.
