Kyle Lafferty: We can go on and rule Europe

By Paul Ferguson in Lyon

Ultra-confident Kyle Lafferty is convinced Northern Ireland can shock the world by winning the European Championships - if they are able to overcome Gareth Bale and Wales tomorrow.

Northern Ireland play their Celtic cousins and Group B winners in the last 16 of Euro 2016 at the Parc des Princes in Paris with the winner meeting either Belgium or Hungary in the quarter-finals.

"It's going to be a tough game against Wales, they've got some world class players but with our heart and determination we honestly believe that we can go on and beat anyone," said the 28-year-old from Kesh, who is desperate to play in Northern Ireland's first knockout match since the 1958 World Cup.

"With the squad of players that we have, I'm honestly sitting here believing we can go the whole way.

"It might take some luck along the way but every team in the world is due some luck at times. I believe if we can get a bit of luck we can go all the way. We'll upset a few teams."
