Republic of Ireland hero Robbie Brady described his side's stunning win over Italy last night as "the best feeling in the world".

Brady's 84th minute winner blasted the Republic into the last 16 of Euro 2016.

"I am lost for words, emotional. It is unbelievable," he said.

"I grew up waiting to play on this stage since I was a little kid, so to go and do it in front of my family is the best feeling in the world.

"What a moment for everyone involved. We said we were going to do a job for everyone out here and we did it, we made history."

It is the first time the Republic have made the knockout stages of a European Championship.

O'Neill's men will now take on hosts France at Lyon on Sunday (2pm).
