Stephen Nolan hunting for supporters to take him to his first ever Northern Ireland match at Euro 2016

“I’m not that bad to be with. I break wind now and again but not too often. All I do is eat and that’s about it so I wouldn’t be too bad in a camper van"

Stephen Nolan has revealed that he’s never been to a Northern Ireland match - and this is your chance to show him how the Green and White Army celebrate.

The BBC presenter said he is looking to join a group of Northern Ireland supporters on a road trip to France for the team’s first major tournament since 1986.

In an interview with Northern Ireland coach Michael O’Neill, Nolan said: “I’ve never been to a Northern Ireland match in my life. How disgraceful is that? I’m trapped now though because if I start going now they’ll say I’m glory hunting.”

O’Neill joked: “I can’t believe that. If I had known that, I wouldn’t have agreed to this interview.”

Nolan, who is a Manchester United supporter, said that the success of the team was drawing in a new legion of fans. He said: “There are people who are ticket holders for Premier League clubs and they are thinking to themselves ‘Why am I not supporting guys on our own doorstep?”

Later in the show, Nolan announced that the Irish Football Association had been in touch and told him that he was welcome at Windsor Park for a home game any time, but Nolan decided to take his support for the team even further and appealed to listeners to let him join them in France.

He said: “I actually pitched the BBC an idea that I should go out in a camper van. We could have had me and wee Willie McCrea, Barry McElduff, Gregory and his wee shih tzu Princess - all those characters of the past - but the BBC turned it down.

“I’m now turning to you. Are there any crowds of you going to the Euros that would like me to come with you in a camper van? I could join your pack for a while.”

“I’m not that bad to be with. I break wind now and again but not too often. All I do is eat and that’s about it so I wouldn’t be too bad in a camper van.”

On Wednesday night on the Stephen Nolan show, Michael O’Neill presented Nolan with a Northern Ireland shirt that was a little bit on the small side and said: “Giving that you’ve never been to Windsor Park, we’ve brought you this. We’d hope to see you there and you must wear this.”
