Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told his players they have to perform at their very best to overcome Villarreal and reach the Europa League final.

Having defeated competition favourites Borussia Dortmund in dramatic fashion in the quarter-finals, the Anfield outfit are expected to beat Villarreal in the last four but, ahead of tonight's first leg in Spain, Klopp issued a warning to his players not to be complacent.

"They are unbelievably strong with really good balance. If you let them, they play football and have everything you need to be a good team," stated the German.

"We have to be prepared for our best game and that's what we will try to do."

On the eve of the game, Klopp paid tribute to the determination of the Hillsborough families in the wake of Tuesday's historic inquest verdict, with the jury concluding that the 96 victims were unlawfully killed 27 years after the tragedy.

Klopp said: "I'm really pleased for them that finally they got the justice they wanted. 27 years is an unbelievably long time but it shows all of us if you're ready, if you fight for the truth, and you're patient enough to wait for the moment, then it can happen."
