Under-fire Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal insisted his team had regained their confidence after a vital 3-1 victory at Derby County in the FA Cup fourth round.

The win, secured by goals from Wayne Rooney, Daley Blind and Juan Mata, relieved the pressure on Van Gaal whose job has been under threat after a series of poor results and dull performances this season.

"I'm very happy. The confidence is back," said the Dutchman.

Hailing United's fans last night, he added: "It is unbelievable. Still they come to look at 'boring' Manchester United."
