Hodson given Ronaldo task

MK Dons defender Lee Hodson was handed the unenviable task of shackling Cristiano Ronaldo as Northern Ireland took on Portugal at Windsor Park.

With Aaron Hughes and Craig Cathcart injured, 21-year-old right-back Hodson was handed the toughest task of his career - stepping up from League One to pit his wits against the Real Madrid superstar.

Northern Ireland boss Michael O'Neill was able to restore Jonny Evans and Chris Brunt to his starting XI after they missed the 1-0 win over Russia last month, but Kyle Lafferty was consigned to the bench.

Portugal left Manchester United winger Nani out in favour of Wolfsburg's Vierinha.
