Northern Ireland captain Aaron Hughes has been been ruled out of the friendly against Montenegro on Wednesday in Podgorica.

Hughes is returning to Fulham after his inflamed Achilles was assessed by the medical team.

He is the second defender to be sidelined over the weekend after Gareth McAuley suffered a back injury in Ipswich's victory over Middlesbrough on Saturday.

It means three players have dropped out of the squad in total, with Sunderland goalkeeper Trevor Carson being replaced by Alan Blayney of Linfield.
