Koller quits yet again
Tuesday, 8 September 2009
The Czech Republic’s leading goalscorer has quit international footballl — for good.
And that is good news for Northern Ireland ahead of next month’s trip to Prague.
Jan Koller’s return to the international stage lasted just 55 minutes on Saturday night and this time he won’t be back.
“Nobody will persuade me again,” said Koller after the Czechs drew 2-2 with Slovakia in Bratislava.
“I would only be in the way. It was a mistake to come back against Slovakia.”
The 6ft 7 striker called time on his international career after last year’s European Championship finals, but was persuaded to return a month ago.
Thirty-six-year-old Koller will not now face San Marino on Wednesday night.
