McClaren sacked after England's Euro failure
Thursday, 22 November 2007
The English only needed a draw against Croatia in Wembley to progress to the finals.
However, despite coming back from an early 2-0 deficit, they were defeated 3-2, allowing Russia to qualify instead.
McClaren refused to resign in the immediate aftermath of the game, but he was sacked by the FA following an emergency meeting this morning.
Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is the bookies' favourite to replace him in the job, followed by Martin O'Neill and Luiz Felipe Scolari.
