Northern Ireland U-19s still eying place in the Elite
Stephen Craigan is delighted his Northern Ireland under-19 team are going into their final European Championship qualifying game still in with a chance of making the Elite stages.
Despite losing to group hosts Belgium in their opening game and drawing 1-1 with France, Northern Ireland will progress if they beat Iceland today and the French fail to win their game.
"To still be alive after two games is magnificent," said Craigan.
"If I had been offered this scenario at the start of the tournament I would have bitten your hand off for it.
"Belgium are the best team that I have come up against at this age group and France have a lot of quality too.
"We can't expect Belgium to do us a favour. The main thing is that we win our game because without that the other one is irrelevant."
Northern Ireland's under-17 girls saw their hopes of making it to the Elite qualifying round of the European Championships brought to an end last night when they lost 2-0 to France at Stangmore Park.
