Watch: I hope every young girl watching wants to play, say NI hero McDaniel
Northern Ireland's goal-scoring hero Louise McDaniel hopes her goal could inspire a new generation of footballers.
The Linfield Ladies star netted Northern Ireland's first ever goal at a women's final tournament as she earned a 1-1 draw with Scotland at Mourneview Park in the UEFA Women's U19 Championships.
The goal, from a corner, cancelled out Kirsty Hanson's opener and McDaniel hopes it could have a wide-reaching impact.
"I hope any young girl watching really enjoyed it and it encourages them to start playing football," she said.
"I couldn't believe it went in. I stopped for a minute and it hit me when everybody ran over to me. I'm just over the moon. The whole team are absolutely delighted.
"I couldn't have done it without the two coaches. They've been behind the whole team throughout and our two performances prove that the hard work has paid off."
Northern Ireland now face Germany on Monday evening at the Ballymena Showgrounds (kick-off 7pm).
