No stone is being left unturned by Northern Ireland manager Nigel Worthington in his quest to take Northern Ireland to a first World Cup finals since he was part of the squad in 1986.
While Worthington’s main focus is on Northern Ireland’s crucial meeting with Poland on Saturday, that’s not the only match on his mind.
He will have more than a passing interest on how England get on, with Fabio Capello’s side meeting Group Three opponents Slovakia in a friendly at Wembley, as well as the other game in the group, which sees Slovenia host the Czech Republic.
“I’ll have someone going to Wembley for me and they will come back with a full report on Slovakia,” said Worthington.
“There will be someone in Slovenia for that match and we will look at the information that comes back from that. It’s an important part of our preparation. We will be passing the information we have on Poland onto the players as the week goes on.”
