Ballymena United appoint David Jeffrey as new manager

Ballymena United have appointed David Jeffrey as their new manager.

Jeffrey, 53, has signed a three-year contract with the Sky Blues.

Club chairman John Taggart said: "we are absolutely delighted to appoint David as manager of Ballymena United".

"His records and achievements speak for themselves and we are excited for the times ahead here at the Showgrounds."

The Belfast Telegraph revealed that the former Linfield boss was at the top of the Sky Blues' wanted list immediately after they sacked Glenn Ferguson following five straight league defeats.

Former Blues boss Jeffrey honoured by Orange Order 

Striker Matthew Tipton led the team's training last week.

Jeffrey shocked Irish League football by announcing he was leaving Linfield at the end of the 2013-14 season after 17 years at the helm.

During his time in charge Linfield he won 31 trophies.
