Tiarnan Mulvenna arrives to bolster Cliftonville's attack

By Graham Luney

Cliftonville's striker search following the departure of Liam Boyce to Ross County has concluded with the signing of Tiarnan Mulvenna from Glenavon.

Mulvenna has moved to Solitude in a deal that sees Ciaran Caldwell head to Mourneview Park.

Glentoran and Crusaders were also interested in snapping up Caldwell but Lurgan Blues boss Gary Hamilton won the race for his signature.

Mulvenna has been handed a two-year deal by Reds boss Tommy Breslin, who also brought striker Davy McDaid to the champions from Coleraine.

"Tiarnan will add an exciting new dimension to our attack and, though he has only been involved in Irish League football for a short space of time, I have been very impressed with what he has contributed to Glenavon and believe he has the talent to flourish in a Cliftonville shirt," said Breslin.

"We're also bidding farewell to Ciaran Caldwell and we genuinely wish him well as he embarks upon the next chapter of his career. He has been with the club for a number of years and has been part of many memorable occasions."

* A big-HEARTED Glenavon supporter has agreed to sponsor Warrenpoint Town's home game against Coleraine this afternoon after an unexpected cash bonus.

The Lurgan Blues fan lost a sum of money at Milltown on August 13 when Gary Hamilton's side won 2-0.

But after Town were informed of the missing funds they were located and returned to the grateful owner.

Take a bow Warrenpoint!
