Clinical Adam sends Larne into final

By Keith Bailie

Larne 2 Dunmurry Rec 1: Paul Millar's Larne booked their place in this season's Paddy Power Steel&Sons Cup final with a 2-1 win over Dunmurry Rec, thanks to a brace from Adam Dick.

Their hard fought 2-1 victory at Seaview puts them into the final for the first time since 1971.

Larne were awarded a soft penalty on the 15th minute when referee Ian Hall pointed to spot for push by Philip Warnock on Dick.

Dick made no mistake from 12 yards, finding the bottom right hand corner.

Dunmurry Rec fought their way back into the game and got their reward on the 28th minute.

The impressive left winger Paddy Rooney collected the ball and sprinted at the Larne defence before unleashing a 25 yard effort that flew into David Henry's top left hand corner.

Rooney hit the outside of David Henry's post from 20 yards but Larne retook the lead on 55 minutes when Allan Reid pinged in a free-kick from wide right.

The free-kick found the unmarked Dick, who headed the ball into the net.

Larne captain Allan Reid was sent off in the 71st minute for his second bookable offence.

Dunmurry Rec failed to mount a comeback in the last 10 minutes and Larne held on to claim their place in the final.

Larne will face the winners of Bangor and Shankill United, who play in the other semi-final at Seaview on Friday night.
