David Healy: Beckham move is a good deal for both teams

Already some people are questioning David Beckham’s loan move to AC Milan.

Well, I believe it is a great deal for both parties.

It’s true that Becks isn’t as mobile as he was five years ago, but he’s not going to the Premiership where everything can be 100mph, he’s going to play in the Italian League, where he’ll have more time on the ball.

In Serie A he’ll be able to pick out a pass and deliver those telling crosses.

I’m sure he’ll create lots of chances for all the other world class players at Milan.

He’s been a success at two of the biggest clubs in the world, Manchester United and Real Madrid, and now I’d bank on him being a hit at the San Siro.

Yes, it is a move designed to help him stay in the England squad and I genuinely hope he safeguards his place in the team.

I’ve always been a big Beckham fan and find it strange that others don’t see him as a fantastic footballer.

He still has real quality and look at how his experience and knowledge of big game situations can help the younger players, like Theo Walcott, in the England team.

Fabio Capello wouldn’t have Becks around if he didn’t believe he was good for England.

He’ll be a big asset at Milan, and not just in terms of shirt sales! I’m backing him to shine in Milan.
