Donegal Celtic 0 Dungannon Swifts 2

Goals in each half at Celtic Park shifted Dungannon Swifts away from the battle zone of the Carling Premiership.

The visitors confirmed a second victory of the season courtesy of Dermot McCaffrey’s wonderful 25-yard strike in the 25th minute and Michael Ward’s late penalty.

Already missing suspended duo Ryan Henderson and Paul McVeigh and injured trio Paul Bradley, Declan O’Hara and skipper Stephen McAlorum, manager Paddy Kelly saw Niall Atkinson become the third DC player to be red carded in two games following a crude challenge on PJ Lavery in the first-half.

Kelly said: “It showed that we missed leaders on the pitch. When players of that calibre are missing it is going to have an impact — and we haven’t got an experienced enough squad to cover that.”

Swifts boss Dixie Robinson said: “I was very pleased with our first-half performance but, once they went down to 10-men, to be fair to them, they came back at us and had a couple of chances to equalise.”
