Donegal Celtic roar back to nick point against Portadown in thrilller
Donegal Celtic 4 Portadown 4: Ten-man Donegal Celtic snatched a draw through a 92nd minute strike by Tomas McCann in an eight-goal Suffolk Road rollercoaster clash.
Celtic’s Paul McVeigh opened the scoring in the sixth minute, Daniel Hanna providing the clinical pass for McVeigh to swoop.
The Ports were rocked again on 33 minutes when McVeigh grabbed his second. McVeigh latched onto a punt from Darren McNamee and his half blocked shot from just inside the box looped over keeper Miskelly.
But Portadown pulled one back from the re-start. Henry McStay’s deft through ball was sent into the path of Wesley Boyle who made no mistake from close range, slotting past Sean McGreevey.
The Ports almost equalised through Kevin Braniff but his shot crashed off the bar. But in the last minute of the half Braniff delivered another thunderbolt to bring the sides level.
Seconds after the introduction of Richard Clarke on the hour and the Ports went ahead. Neal McCaffrey fed Boyle out on the left and his lovely curling shot found the corner of the net.
Then in the 74th minute Braniff grabbed a fourth. Matters got worse for DC when Ciaran Gargan was shown a straight red-card for a challenge on Chris Ramsey.
But then McVeigh completed his hat-trick with a glancing header in the 90th minute and two minutes later substitute McCann snatched a draw.
