Dungannon Swifts 5 Ballymoney United 1

Dungannon Swifts were impressive at times in their win over Ballymoney United and manager Dixie Robinson is aware that more of the same is required if his side are to stay out of a relegation battle and put together another Cup run of the 2007 ilk.

“The performance against Ballymoney was full of positives; the return of Timmy Adamson a big plus for us, while the manner in which the lads played in the first half was little short of exceptional” stated Robinson.

“I have a policy of strongest team all the time and that won’t change. It was tempting to give some of our fringe players a run out, but that is risky business and not our form.

“Our focus is on the League, particularly Friday night’s game against Newry City, but we certainly have an eye on a run in the Cup.”

Swifts completely dominated the first half, with Adamson and strike partner Mickey Ward scoring either side of a Ryan O’Neill brace.

Substitute Alain Emerson added a late fifth, while Ballymoney’s Mark Gillian grabbed a last gasp consolation.
