Did Loughgall spoil the secret over Dungannon Swifts' trialist striker?
Dungannon Swifts edged out Loughgall 2-1 in a friendly on Monday evening thanks to a winning goal from a man the club's Twitter account called only 'Trialist'.
It's fairly common for clubs to keep the names of their would-be signings as quiet as they can with friendly updates full of A. Trialist scoring goals for a variety of sides.
However, the message that the true identity of Dungannon's version of the player was being kept hush hush didn't seem to make it as far as the Loughgall tweeter - who named former Portadown striker Nathaniel Ferris as the scorer of the Swifts' second goal.
Loughgall haven't done a very good job in keeping Dungannon's trialist's name a secret pic.twitter.com/XvrcXBCqGw— Irish Football Tips (@irishsoccertips) July 17, 2017
Ferris started only two Premiership games for the Ports during the first half of last season and moved to near-neighbours Annagh United in January.
Could he be set for a return to the top division? Given that 'Trialist' has netted five goals in three pre-season fixtures for the Swifts, who would bet against it?
