Forward thinking by Derry City boosts title bid

Derry City's emphasis on attacking football will be the basis of their assault on the Premier Division title this season, according to boss Stephen Kenny.

The Candystripes' rise to the sharp end of the table in their first season back after enforced demotion has taken many people by surprise — but not the Dubliner.

Patrick McEleney, David McDaid, Thomas McBride and Gareth McGlynn have already stood out as City attacking talents this term.

“We’ve shown that we have goal threats throughout the team,” Kenny said. “And if we can maintain the standards it bodes well for the campaign.”

City host St Pat's this evening (7.45pm) chasing a fourth successive victory but will be without the injured duo Ruairi Harkin and Barry Molloy.
