Glenavon 0 Donegal Celtic 1

Mourneview Park’s backroom boys have paid the ultimate price for Glenavon’s disastrous start to the season — a thank you and goodbye.

Manager Marty Quinn’s patience ran out after watching his side slip to their fifth defeat in six starts and declared: “One point from a possible 18 is horrible so I decided on a clean sweep.”

Out went Jeff Montgomery and David Dorrian with Quinn’s old Coleraine skipper Pat McAllister arriving as coach.

“Difficult decisions have sometimes to be made in football and this one was just that,” said Quinn (below).

“Pat is a brave man to come to Glenavon in the present circumstances and with me not in a great place but I’m sure he’ll bring what we need.”

Glenavon fell to their latest defeat thanks to Ryan Henderson’s 61st minute finish at the end of a flowing team move but Donegal Celtic boss Paddy Kelly’s feet are staying firmly planted on the ground.

“That's our fourth win and it's nice to be where we are but we won't be getting carried away,” he said.

“If we finish mid-table, we'll be more than happy.”
