Glenavon paid the price for a string of missed chances as Carrick Rangers celebrated their first-ever Premiership win — much to home boss Marty Quinn’s disappointment.

“After three matches it’s hardly good enough to be at the bottom of the table,” he said. “I’m prepared for what comes my way but first I must apologise to the supporters.”

Stephen O’Neill opened the scoring and a Paul Owens (pictured) screamer put Carrick two up before Andy Graham’s late response.

“It was important to get off the mark if people are going to take us seriously as a Premier League side,” said visiting boss Stephen Small, who was effusive in his praise for star man Owens.

“He has great technique, a great left foot and worked his socks off,” he said, adding: “Mind you, he missed a decent chance with his right ...”
