Glenavon boss Quinn on hunt for Hamill as he aims to lift gloom

Glenavon boss Marty Quinn is still hoping to persuade Rory Hamill to join the Lurgan Blues.

Quinn can seal the deal even after the transfer window has shut as the former Glentoran hitman is out of contract.

The 33-year-old could help stop the rot at Mourneview Park after a nightmare run of 11 league games without a win.

Newry City are in Lurgan this evening — along with IFA chief-executive Patrick Nelson for the official switch on of the club’s new £100,000 floodlighting system.

The switch on will take place immediately prior to both teams taking the field at 7.40pm.

“It is vital we return to winning ways,” said Quinn. “It is a huge game. The players’ attitude has been superb and they are hungry to put in a good performance. We need a lift and hopefully a win will see us turn the corner.”

Meanwhile, former Derry City striker Aaron Nash joined Lisburn Distillery on transfer window deadline day, while Coleraine midfielder Tony Shields joined Institute.
