Blues ace Smyth ready to be a TV star and hit the big time

By Graham Luney

Teenage sensation Paul Smyth plans to shine in front of the Sky Sports cameras tonight and edge closer to a glamour move across the water.

The 19-year-old Linfield winger is dreaming of making it in the professional game and under the guidance of boss David Healy the teenager believes he can hit the big time.

The Blues will face Cliftonville at Windsor Park (7.45pm) tonight knowing they have only eight games left to wipe out Crusaders' 10 points advantage in the title race.

"It's been a really good experience working with David," said Smyth who produced a man of the match performance in the Irish Cup win over the Crues.

"He's brought me to the team from the Swifts and allows me to thrive in the first team and he will not stand in my way if there's an opportunity to play across the water.

"It's every kid's target to do that and David has that experience himself as a player going across and playing for top clubs and then getting an incredible international career.

"He's just a great coach and pushing me on further than I thought possible. I'm just going to keep working hard and perhaps I will get a chance."
